With our site running out of Hagersville Ontario we have been able to provide the Canadian wild bird seed market with our own branded products as well as premium custom-blended packaged caged animal and bird seed products.
Job Summary
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor:
Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose, maintain, and repair industrial electrical and electronic control systems and related production equipment.
- Electrical Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues in AC drives, PLCs, wire tracing, and electrical drawings. Coordinate with equipment suppliers as needed.
- Performance Improvement: Enhance equipment efficiency through modifications, adjustments, and improvement recommendations.
- New Installations: Plan, order supplies, install electrical components, and assist with commissioning.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform proactive maintenance to prevent equipment failures.
- Breakdown Repairs: Troubleshoot and resolve breakdowns efficiently, analyzing failures for future prevention.
- Knowledge Sharing: Train and coach fellow employees.
- Other Trades: Occasionally perform work in other trades when necessary.
- CMMS System: Complete preventative maintenance work orders using MaintainX.
- Supervision: Direct work of helpers as required.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to electrical codes, health and safety regulations.
- Safety & Cleanliness: Maintain high workplace safety standards and keep work areas clean.
- Ontario Electrical Safety Code: Comply with regulations for installations and modifications.
- On-Call: May be required to the occasional call-ins for electrical issues as required
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Licensing: Valid Ontario Electrical license (442A or 309A preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years in an industrial or food production environment.
- Troubleshooting Skills: Strong ability to diagnose and resolve electrical malfunctions.
- Preventative Maintenance: Knowledge of preventive maintenance principles and tools.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of WHMIS, OHSA regulations, and safety codes.
- PLC & Automation: Ability to troubleshoot PLC hardware, program ladder logic, and interpret schematics.
- Mechanical Skills: Experience with mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components (preferred asset but not required).
- Work Conditions: Comfortable working at heights, confined spaces, outdoors and in varying environmental conditions.
- Flexibility: Ability to work additional shifts when needed.
- Safety Compliance: Familiarity with fall arrest systems, machine guarding, and safe work procedures.
- Teamwork & Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with management and team members.
- Physical Demands: Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with maintenance software systems, computers, and basic electrical troubleshooting tools.
