Supportive Housing - City of Brantford

Aerial view of downtown Brantford.

Supportive housing supports people aged 16 and up who are at risk of homelessness, promoting self-sufficiency while preventing housing loss. People are connected to landlords and are set up in a private self-contained apartment where they are the lease holders of their unit under the residential tenancy act. The program is offered for one year with an opportunity for extension, supporting independent sustainability of the unit.

The Supportive Housing Program provides:

  • Housing subsidies and support with first and last month’s rent (if criteria is met)
  • Support Planning, case management, life skills programming and Transition planning
  • Rent Smart certification; providing tenants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to find and maintain good housing via a 6-week certificate program offered by our housing counsellors
  • Referrals to our Employment and Addictions and Mental Health services as well as community supports and services

Eligibility Criteria

Individuals who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or who are inadequately housed.
