Shop Worker- Hose Assembly & Fabrication - Consolequip Inc
Monday to Friday; 8:00AM to 4:30PM
Duties
Consolequip Inc. supplies freight car air brake hoses and pressure measuring devices to the railways. We are seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Shop Workers to support our hose assembly and metal fabrication operations.
This hands-on role involves operating machinery, fabricating a variety of parts, and performing quality inspections. All necessary training is provided in-house, making this a great opportunity for candidates eager to learn and grow in a dynamic shop environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform shipping and receiving tasks
- Operate forklift and maintain shop equipment
- Follow safety protocols and complete in-house training before performing any function
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area
Hose Assembly Functions- Set ruler and cut hose to length, apply end fittings, perform leak test. (70% of the job)
- Hose assembly Equipment
- Hose Cutting saw
- Fitting Insertion machine
- Crimping machines
- Inspection & Proof Testing Tank
- Labelling and packaging
Fabrication Functions
- Part Fabrication using a variety of equipment:
- Band saw
- Punch Press
- Drill
- Inspection
- and other tools to ensure product quality
Qualifications
General
- Must have dependable transport to Ayr, Ontario
- Must have CSA certified work boots
- Ability to read a measuring tape and interpret work orders
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Punctual, dependable, and team-oriented
Technical
- No prior experience required; all training is provided in-house
- Willingness to learn safe operation of various shop machinery
- Basic mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Eligibility
All functions require training before independent operation. Training is conducted in-house and includes safety procedures, equipment handling, and quality standards. Employees are expected to demonstrate proficiency before working unsupervised.
