Student Contract - 35 hours per week

Duties

Reporting to the Manager Corporate Affairs, the Corporate Affairs Coordinator will assist the team   with the coordination, and implementation of assigned public relations activities.  They will support the department strategies to advance the public image of the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC) and its departments. The candidate must possess exceptional communication, excellent social media, organizational, and multi-tasking skills. The Corporate Affairs Coordinator will work within the policies and procedures established by the Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and maintain SNGRDC’s Social media accounts by ensuring proper graphics are used, scheduling releases, and writing captions.

  • Assisting with all events by coordinating vendors, working with other SNGRDC departments, assisting in maintaining budgets and ensuring invoicing process is completed. 

  • Assist in community events representing SNGRDC in the booth/area, communicating to visitors, distributing promotional material/items, and assist with setting up, dismantling and cleaning of booth/area.

  • Coordinate SNGRDC Sponsorship program requests including attaining approvals, coordinating process with finance and ensuring money is transferred correctly.

  • Act as the main point of contact for general inquires via phone and through SNGRDC websites 

  • Assisting with various communications initiatives as assigned by the Corporate Manager. 

  • Perform other administrative duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • College or professional certificate in Communications, Public Relations or relevant domain, or equivalent experience, combined with a strong understanding of the history and dynamics of the Six Nations of the Grand River community.

  • Demonstrated communication, writing, copyediting, and research skills with exemplary attention to detail, a comprehensive portfolio of works may be requested. 

  • Knowledge of web design, website administration, writing and working with editing tools such as HTML is an asset.

  • Demonstrated experience working with Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or other design programs.

  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, HTML, iCloud applications, and Adobe Photoshop.

  • Experience using various social media platforms. 

  • Demonstrated success in contributing to effective teamwork coupled with the ability to work independently in a high-pressure, demanding environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to respond to multiple priorities and to meet deadlines successfully under pressure.

  • Must pass a police record check.

  • Willingness to learn, accept change, and adapt to new ideas, business concepts, and cultures.

  • Flexible (extra hours may be required on occasion).
