Duties
Finance Operations Completes account and bank reconciliations, investigates discrepancies, and supports month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate financial records. |
Accounts Receivable/Banking Responsibilities Bank Reconciliations of all bank accounts, preparation of bank deposits, record all deposits including cash, cheques, EFT all debits and credits Prepare and processing of all AR invoicing, send out monthly statements and invoices as required. Work with Guest experience on rental invoices and outstanding receivable |
General Accounting Prepare, enter, review, and post complex accounting entries, journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies. |
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement Collaborates with leadership and departments to improve financial processes, controls, and reporting. Supports documentation of procedures and implementation of best practices while building strong working relationships across the organization. |
Administrative & Other Duties Reviews and uploads bingo sessions, ensures accuracy of related records, bingo cash reconciliations and performs other duties as assigned.Compliance, Controls & Audit Support Compliance, Controls & Audit Support Ensures compliance with accounting standards, policies, and regulatory requirements. Supports audit processes by preparing schedules and documentation and maintaining accurate audit trails. Identifies risks and supports corrective actions. |
Qualifications
This role requires strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls. Experience with financial systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.
The position demands attention to detail, analytical capability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
The Accounting Specialist must exercise sound judgment in reconciling accounts, identifying discrepancies, and resolving financial issues. The role requires the ability to analyze financial data, support forecasting, and recommend process improvements while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and policies.
The Accounting Specialist is accountable for the accuracy and integrity of financial records, reporting, and reconciliations. Errors in judgment or execution may result in financial discrepancies, audit issues, compliance risks, or reputational impact to the organization.
Eligibility
Education:
- University degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Chartered Professional Accountant or Chartered Financial Analyst designation preferred or working towards.
Experience:
- Minimum five (5) years of relevant finance experience.
- Experience with financial reporting, and reconciliations.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct preferred).
- Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards, including not-for-profit accounting.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly.
