Part-time hours with a combination of scheduled shifts and call-ins, including weekend and holiday coverage
Shifts include 8am-4pm, 4pm-12am, 12am-8am
Duties
SOAR Community Services provides a comprehensive continuum of social housing supports designed to meet the diverse needs of individuals and youth from those experiencing homelessness or housing instability to young people transitioning toward independent living. As part of this continuum, we operate youth housing programs at our George Street and Station House locations, as well as Emergency Shelter Intake Services.
Our frontline staff deliver trauma-informed, person-centered support to individuals accessing emergency housing and to youth residing in our programs. You’ll help foster safe, welcoming, and stable environments while supporting clients with their basic needs, emotional regulation, life skills development, and long-term pathways toward independence.
Grounded in a harm reduction philosophy, our Housing department collaborates closely with internal partners and community agencies to ensure coordinated, compassionate, and high-impact care.
As a part-time staff member working within our Housing programs, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals and youth to build resilience, strengthen life skills, and move toward brighter futures. Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver direct client support to vulnerable and marginalized individuals and youth accessing emergency intake services and youth housing programs
- Support access to basic needs including food, hygiene supplies, laundry, showers, transportation, and medication administration (as required)
- Maintain safe, clean, and supportive environments in both community and residential settings
- Implement individualized safety plans and apply Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) strategies to de-escalate situations
- Build positive, respectful relationships that promote healthy coping, problem-solving, and social skill development
- Complete all required documentation, case notes, incident reports, and data entry in accordance with agency standards and licensing requirements
- Participate in case management meetings and team collaboration activities
Qualifications
- A college diploma in a related Social/Human Sciences
- 2+ years of experience (including placements) supporting individuals or youth with complex needs—mental health, substance use, homelessness
- Tech-savvy with MS Office and database skills
- Vulnerable Sector Check required
- Accessibility to reliable transportation
- Resilience and emotional awareness to manage vicarious trauma
