Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 10 am – 6 pm, Thursday 11:30 am – 7:30 pm and Friday 9 am to 5 pm
Duties
The Intake Counsellor helps connect individuals in need to the services that can assist them in making changes related to their substance use and mental health. You engage in same-day intake, screening, assessment, support planning, and service connection. You make a difference!
This role:
- Creates a warm, welcoming, and safe intake experience
- Administers standardized comprehensive, evidence-based screening and assessment tools
- Works as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide resources, treatment recommendations and coordinates appropriate level of care aligned with the stepped-care model
- Facilitates client referrals and connection to other services and supports as appropriate
- Advocates for clients when necessary and assists them in developing advocacy skills for themselves
- Ensures all documentation, filing, and paperwork is completed according to Agency policy
- Ensures a safe work environment for staff and clients
Qualifications
- College Diploma in Social Services
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in substance use, concurrent disorders and/or mental health clinical settings
- Demonstrated ability to integrate screening and assessment information to identify client strengths and treatment needs
- Current and demonstrated knowledge of integrated services to meet unique needs of individuals with addiction and concurrent disorders
- Proficient in MS Office and familiar with databases
- Access to reliable transportation
- Able to manage frequent exposure to vicarious trauma

Contract Ends: May 17, 2027
