35 hours per week. Primarily days, Monday-Friday with some evening opportunities available. Must be flexible to accommodate the needs of the program.
Duties
The Intake Worker serves as the first point of contact, conducting client intake, screening needs, and coordinating services. Responsibilities include welcoming clients in person and by phone, registering individuals, and scheduling and confirming appointments. The role involves managing referrals, maintaining accurate client records, and ensuring confidentiality in all data entry and reporting.
The Intake Worker provides administrative and front-line support by answering inquiries, preparing documentation, and assisting staff with program delivery. They support clients in accessing employment resources, including job search tools and community services, and offer guidance with office technology.
The position also requires consistent follow-up with clients, clear communication with internal teams, and collaboration with employment counselors to ensure effective service delivery. Additional duties include supporting workshops, outreach activities, and special projects to enhance client engagement and program success
Qualifications
Candidates must currently be studying in the Human/Social Services field and possess effective problem-solving and communications skills.
According to Canada Summer Jobs guidelines, applicants must also:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age.
- Have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.
- Be Canadian citizens or permanent residents or have official refugee protection status under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (foreign students are not eligible); and
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada, according to relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
Candidates must have the ability to work in a team environment and possess strong report-writing skills. Along with the ability to demonstrate cultural competence and respect for diversity, a proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and working with databases is required. Must have reliable transportation as some travel may be required.
