Duties
We are recruiting for a vacant Crisis Counsellor. The Crisis Phone and Walk-in Services provide immediate support and/or counseling for individuals experiencing mental health, addictions, or situational crisis for all ages. The Crisis Counsellor will assess each situation to determine the best way to help.
What You’ll Do
- Providing risk assessments and referrals
- Conducting crisis intervention and stabilization
- Offering solution-focused counselling
- Liaising with resources, support and referral sources
We are also a partner agency with 9-8-8, Canada’s official three-digit national helpline for suicide prevention and emotional distress. This new service is available 24/7/365 and accessible to everyone from coast to coast to coast. The Crisis Counsellor will provide immediate assessment and support to individuals who call the 9-8-8 call line.
Qualifications
- College diploma in the Human or Social Services field, with a University Degree in a related Social Sciences preferred
- Minimum of 2 years’ combined education/experience in substance use, concurrent disorders and/or mental health clinical settings
- Knowledge of addictions and mental health
- Organization, collaboration and teamwork
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with EMHware is an asset
- Access to reliable transportation

Authorized to work in Canada.

Contract End Date: March 26, 2027
