Position currently scheduled for 22.5 hours per week; may vary and are subject to change based on client needs.  Offering hours primarily during weekdays in the afternoon and evening, no later than 8 p.m. 

Duties

Clinicians employ a strengths-based approach to supporting individuals experiencing substance use and mental health or mental health concerns that are impacting their ability to meet their employment goals. You will provide assessment, support and transition plans, referrals, and therapeutic interventions. You will make a difference!   

Our Addictions and Mental Health department has a variety of programs that allow Clinicians to grow their skills and support people who use substances in different ways. 

Clinicians:

  • Use evidence-based assessment tools to identify needs
  • Develop and implement strength-based support plans
  • Provide short-term individual counselling, up to 6 sessions, using cognitive behavioural, motivational interviewing, and other evidence-informed modalities
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure a coordinated approach to meeting client needs
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with organizational policies

Qualifications

  • Have a college diploma in the Human or Social Services field, with a University Degree in a related Social Sciences preferred
  • Have current registration with a professional governing body such as College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario or Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ combined education/experience in substance use, concurrent disorders and/or mental health clinical settings
  • Be proficient in MS Office and be familiar with databases
  • Be able to manage frequent exposure to vicarious traumatic stress
  • Access to reliable transportation, as some travel may be required
  • Please also note that the successful candidate will be required to provide a police vulnerable sector check as a condition of employment, however strong consideration is made to the type of offense
